Job Summary
The Senior Digital Designer will join Project Drawdown’s marketing and communications team to create compelling digital content that translates scientific climate solutions into engaging visual stories.
This role involves managing multimedia projects, designing digital assets, and contributing to the organization’s digital strategy to increase awareness and engagement globally.
Role and Responsibilities
Multimedia Design (80%)
- Lead the creation of digital content from concept to delivery, including reports, infographics, social media assets, videos, and presentations.
- Design engaging digital assets aligned with Project Drawdown’s climate solutions focus.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring multimedia concepts to life.
- Develop visual content for fundraising campaigns and support reports, publications, and social media.
- Ensure high-quality production, including editing, lighting, sound, and animation.
- Contribute to video content production, including explainers and social media shorts.
- Perform quality checks to maintain brand consistency and project standards.
Digital Strategy and Branding (10%)
- Assist in developing and executing digital content strategies to enhance visibility.
- Maintain and update visual brand guidelines to ensure a cohesive visual identity across all platforms.
- Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to keep content innovative.
Online Marketing (10%)
- Design and develop content for online marketing campaigns promoting reports, events, and initiatives.
- Support digital advertising efforts to reach diverse audiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, multimedia, communications, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5+ years creating innovative, science-based digital content across multiple platforms.
- Proficiency in design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video editing software).
- Experience translating complex climate and environmental science for broad audiences.
- Strong storytelling, visual design, and multimedia production skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with social media best practices and data-driven storytelling.
- Experience working remotely and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of climate change topics and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
Additional Requirements
- Comfortable with virtual collaboration tools (Google Suite, Asana, Slack, Keynote).
- Available for meetings during US Central Time hours.
- Willing to travel domestically 1-3 times per year.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
