Global Controller @Customer.io

Overview

Customer.io is a global, remote-first company that provides a platform for automated communications. They are seeking a Global Controller to manage financial operations and lead a team of about seven in various accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and quarterly financial close processes, ensuring timely US GAAP financials.
• Oversee revenue accounting and serve as the technical authority on subscription and usage-based revenue recognition (ASC 606).
• Author technical accounting position memos on various financial topics.
• Manage equity compensation accounting (ASC 718) and cap-table integrity.
• Build and maintain a control framework suited for the company’s business model.
• Drive automation within accounting systems and processes.
• Handle treasury operations, including cash management and banking relationships.
• Manage external audit relationships and ensure compliance with tax regulations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership experience.
• Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm or similar.
• Deep understanding of US GAAP, especially ASC 606.
• Demonstrable experience in automation or AI deployment in accounting.
• Experience in scaling existing accounting functions, not starting from scratch.
• Strong leadership, communication skills, and credibility with senior stakeholders.
• Preferred: Experience with internal controls or SOX-readiness, and familiarity with M&A accounting.
• CPA license (active or inactive) is a plus.

Benefits

Competitive salary between $250k and $280k USD, benefits including comprehensive health coverage, 16 weeks paid parental leave, unlimited PTO, and remote work stipends.
