Overview
The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Secretariat is hiring a Business Engagement Specialist for the Global Ecosystems Atlas initiative. This role supports the transition from technical development to real-world usability testing, focusing on market discovery and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market analysis on business and financial institution use of ecosystem data.
- Identify user needs, workflows, and value gaps for the Global Ecosystems Atlas.
- Secure and lead collaborations with 3-5 early adopters.
- Formalize partnerships and coordinate usability testing of the Atlas beta dataset.
- Assess the impact of Atlas data on decision-making, risk management, and compliance.
- Develop strategic messaging and thought leadership materials for the Atlas.
- Synthesize insights into recommendations for the Atlas's evolution and scaling.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD preferred) in environmental science, ecology, geography, economics, public policy, sustainability, data science, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in corporate sustainability, ESG reporting, environmental data, or market intelligence.
- Proven success in translating scientific/technical data for business or financial sectors.
- Demonstrated ability in market discovery, user segmentation, and usability testing.
- Deep familiarity with nature-related frameworks and standards (e.g., TNFD, SBTN, CSRD, GRI, SEEA).
- Experience in managing high-level partnerships and established credibility within business and financial sectors.
- Strong analytical, synthesis, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and work independently.
- Fluency in English is essential.

Contract Type: Variable (up to 12 months, depending on project needs)
Proposed daily fee: USD $560 per day
