Overview

The Henry Nxumalo Foundation NPC is hiring a Senior Journalist for a 10-month full-time assignment in Johannesburg, South Africa, focusing on investigative journalism and public accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Produce investigative reports, feature stories, and analytical pieces, including op-eds.
Supervise and mentor junior journalists in investigative and multimedia skills.
Edit and review story drafts for clarity, accuracy, and public impact.
Contribute to multimedia content, including photography and video production.
Collaborate with colleagues to create content aligned with the Foundation’s mission.

Requirements

South African citizen or permanent resident.
Must be based in Johannesburg for the duration of the project.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a relevant field.
Minimum of 5 years in journalism, preferably with investigative reporting experience.
Proficiency in photography, video, and digital storytelling is an advantage.
Comfortable working in a remote/hybrid setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and ability to mentor junior staff.
