Overview
The Henry Nxumalo Foundation NPC is hiring a Senior Journalist for a 10-month full-time assignment in Johannesburg, South Africa, focusing on investigative journalism and public accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce investigative reports, feature stories, and analytical pieces, including op-eds.
- Supervise and mentor junior journalists in investigative and multimedia skills.
- Edit and review story drafts for clarity, accuracy, and public impact.
- Contribute to multimedia content, including photography and video production.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create content aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
Requirements
- South African citizen or permanent resident.
- Must be based in Johannesburg for the duration of the project.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years in journalism, preferably with investigative reporting experience.
- Proficiency in photography, video, and digital storytelling is an advantage.
- Comfortable working in a remote/hybrid setting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and ability to mentor junior staff.
