Overview
Human Rights Watch is seeking an experienced AI Strategy and Solutions Lead to spearhead the organization’s responsible AI adoption and implementation efforts worldwide. This role involves strategic planning, technical implementation, stakeholder engagement, and governance development.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft a comprehensive AI strategy, including data foundation, infrastructure, and organizational readiness.
- Develop a strategic roadmap with quick wins and long-term capacity-building initiatives.
- Conduct research on AI adoption trends in similar organizations.
- Establish success metrics and KPIs for AI initiatives.
- Identify high-impact AI use cases to improve processes and outcomes.
- Design, prototype, and deploy AI and ML solutions using tools like Microsoft Copilot Studio and Azure AI.
- Oversee external vendors and consultants to extend delivery capacity.
- Develop training materials and resources for staff on responsible AI practices.
- Support the creation of AI playbooks, guides, and best practices.
- Develop risk assessment frameworks and contribute to AI policies, including ethical guidelines and governance models.
- Establish standards for evaluating proof of concepts and minimum viable products.
- Foster co-ownership of AI initiatives with business units.
- Support organizational change management for AI adoption.
- Build relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Lead stakeholder engagement to ensure AI initiatives align with HRW’s values.
- Support working groups and forums focused on AI and responsible technology.
- Monitor evolving AI trends, technologies, and ethical standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, AI/ML, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience, with 2-3 years dedicated to AI or ML solution development and deployment.
- Demonstrated experience implementing AI/ML solutions in production environments.
- Proven track record in contributing to technology strategies and guiding AI adoption.
- Strong coding skills in Python with experience in ML libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
- Hands-on experience with predictive modeling, data analysis, and statistical techniques.
- Familiarity with low-code/no-code AI platforms (Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform).
- Knowledge of generative AI and traditional ML approaches.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Experience supporting organizational change and fostering a culture of responsible AI use.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage vendors.
