    UNICEF is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to fill the position of Education Officer (NO-2) under a Temporary Appointment (364 days) in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria.

    The Education Officer will play a critical role in supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of education programmes within the country office. The role involves providing technical, operational, and administrative assistance across the full programme cycle—from development planning to delivery of results.

    Key responsibilities include supporting programme development and strategic planning, ensuring effective programme management and delivery of results, and providing technical and operational support throughout implementation. The officer will also contribute to networking and partnership building with relevant stakeholders, while promoting innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the education sector.

    To be eligible for this role, candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field. Applicants are required to have at least two years of relevant professional experience in areas such as research, programme planning, programme management, or education-related fields.

    The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong analytical, negotiation, resource management, team supervision, strategic thinking, and risk management skills. Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an added advantage.

    Additional desirable qualifications include experience in project monitoring, site supervision, quality assurance, construction technology, and working in multicultural or humanitarian settings. Possession of a teaching certificate and prior teaching experience are also beneficial.
