Job Summary
The Business Development Officer will be responsible for driving customer acquisition, loan origination, deposit mobilisation, and relationship management within consumer and business banking segments. The role focuses on candidates with experience in SME lending, IPPIS lending, and FMCG business financing.

Key Responsibilities

• Market and promote consumer and business banking products
• Source and manage SME loan customers, particularly within the FMCG sector
• Drive IPPIS lending by identifying eligible salary earners and processing loan applications
• Build and maintain relationships with SMEs, traders, distributors, retailers, and salary earners
• Conduct preliminary customer assessments and collect required loan documentation
• Support credit appraisal by providing accurate and relevant customer information
• Monitor loan repayments and support recovery processes when necessary
• Mobilise deposits and expand the customer base
• Meet assigned targets for sales, loan disbursement, and repayment
• Prepare periodic reports on marketing activities, loan pipelines, and customer engagement
• Identify cross-selling opportunities within existing customer accounts
• Ensure compliance with lending policies, KYC requirements, and internal procedures

Qualifications

• Minimum of OND, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Marketing, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
• Additional certifications or training in credit, sales, microfinance, or relationship management will be an added advantage

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in business development, credit marketing, SME lending, microfinance, cooperative lending, or consumer banking
• Mandatory experience in IPPIS lending
• Strong experience in SME and/or FMCG lending is highly preferred
• Proven ability to generate loan customers and manage relationships effectively
