Overview
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is seeking a Child Protection Specialist to be based in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. This role contributes to strengthening child protection strategies and programs within the Nigeria Delegation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support protection teams in identifying and addressing child protection concerns.
- Coordinate responses for complex child protection cases.
- Support community-based child protection projects.
- Compile reports and analyses on child protection interventions.
- Monitor trends affecting children across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States.
- Identify training needs and support internal capacity building.
- Represent the ICRC in engagements with communities, authorities, and humanitarian stakeholders.
Requirements
- University degree in law, humanities, social sciences, or a related field.
- At least five years of professional experience.
- Three to four years in protection or a related area.
- At least one year of direct experience in child protection.
- Fluency in English, Hausa, and Kanuri is essential.
- Prior experience within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is an advantage.
