Overview
CIFOR-ICRAF seeks a qualified Soil Knowledge Exchange Consultant to support the documentation and scaling of soil health initiatives across sub-Saharan Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and analyze successful co-designed soil health initiatives.
- Document application, scaling, and impact of data-driven approaches addressing soil degradation.
- Generate evidence-based insights to support scalable and replicable soil health solutions.
- Provide technical support to consolidate progress into comprehensive reports and visual assets.
- Strengthen targeted advisory services for smallholder farmers and pastoralists.
- Promote the integration of soil health in policy, planning, and investment frameworks across Africa.
- Align documentation efforts with continental frameworks and SDG targets.
- Identify barriers and opportunities for advancing soil health initiatives.
- Support the development of national soil health frameworks and digital platforms like SoilHive.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years experience producing soil health-related outputs, including technical reports and data products.
- Demonstrated knowledge of soil health initiatives within the African Union context.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality technical and visual soil health outputs.
- Experience working across interdisciplinary teams in research, policy, and implementation.
- Expertise in synthesizing soil information systems and data platforms.
- Strong skills in creating accessible digital and visual knowledge products.
- Experience supporting projects aligned with continental frameworks such as the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Action Plan.
