Overview

Spark Climate Solutions is seeking a Biological Methane Removal Scientist and a Senior Fellow to lead innovative climate mitigation research in biological methane removal.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead literature review and community engagement on biological methane removal.
• Identify high-impact entry points for Spark’s investment.
• Develop and manage a funding solicitation process.
• Produce assessment reports and scientific documentation.
• Represent Spark at scientific events and build research partnerships.
• Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on biological methane removal and methanotrophs.
• Build relationships within the research community.
• Contribute to scientific publications, white papers, and program communications.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in microbiology, biochemistry, environmental science, or related field.
• 5+ years of research and professional experience for Scientist; 15+ years for Senior Fellow.
• Expertise in microbial methane cycling, methanotrophs, or related systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to synthesize large bodies of literature.
• Proven leadership in scientific research for Senior Fellow.
• Ability to communicate complex scientific ideas to diverse audiences for Senior Fellow.

Benefits

• Salary: $110,000 – $125,000 annually for Scientist; Hourly rate: $80 – $110 for Senior Fellow.
• Remote working within the U.S. or internationally with approval.
