Overview
Instacart is transforming the grocery industry by providing essential services that customers rely on. The company is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer II to collaborate with senior engineers and product leaders to enhance its ads systems using machine learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning solutions including data pipelines, model architectures, and serving integrations for the ads organization.
- Formulate and scope ambiguous modeling problems, translating business observations into well-defined ML research directions with evaluation criteria.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and infrastructure engineers to understand business needs and create impactful ML applications.
- Improve operational efficiency by refining and advancing algorithms and models.
- Publish findings internally and contribute to the team’s culture through design reviews and experiment retrospectives.
Requirements
- Graduate degree (masters or PhD) in machine learning, statistics, computer science, information retrieval, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong programming skills with experience in data manipulation (SQL, Spark, Pandas) and machine learning tools.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
- 1-2 years of industry experience in using machine learning with large datasets (preferred).
- Knowledge of sequential modeling and Foundation Models (preferred).
- Familiarity with LLM integrations and online recommendation systems (preferred).
Benefits
Instacart provides competitive compensation and benefits in each location, with specific base pay ranges for Canada listed as $154,000 — $162,500 CAD. The role is also eligible for equity grants and annual refresh grants.
Location
This role is remote but limited to the provinces of Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
