Overview
The role involves managing the Infra Foundations team at Affirm, which is responsible for building a foundational infrastructure layer that supports multiple financial products. The team focuses on AWS account provisioning, core networking, and infrastructure automation to ensure reliability and safety as the company scales globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive the vision and multi-quarter roadmap, ensuring alignment with business outcomes and tech-debt reduction.
- Lead and mentor a team of infrastructure engineers, overseeing hiring, performance, and career growth.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to align Infra Foundations priorities with broader goals.
- Ensure reliability and safety for AWS account provisioning and core networking.
- Drive automation initiatives to enhance efficiency across engineering teams.
- Manage critical operational programs like AWS quota management and configuration management.
- Establish operational standards and SLAs for IAM requests and incident response.
- Partner with Security to enforce access governance.
- Facilitate adoption of frameworks and best practices through documentation and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- 7+ years in software or infrastructure engineering, with at least 2 years in engineering management.
- Experience leading engineering teams in infrastructure or platform engineering.
- Strong technical knowledge in cloud-native systems, preferably AWS.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code practices (e.g., Terraform) and GitOps workflows.
- Proven ability to maintain high reliability standards in operational services.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or Kotlin preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational leadership skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
