    The Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA) is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Client Liaison Officer (C4) based at its Gauteng South (B) Regional Office.

    This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience in client liaison, skills development, engineering, training, or project management to contribute towards South Africa’s skills development agenda while working for one of the country’s leading Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs).

    The successful candidate will join the Client Service Division on a fixed-term contract aligned to the current SETA licence term.

    The Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA) is a Schedule 3A public entity established under the Skills Development Act, 1998 (Act No. 97 of 1998).

    The organisation is responsible for facilitating skills development across various industries, including:

    • Components Manufacturing

    Through partnerships with employers, training providers, and industry stakeholders, merSETA promotes quality education, workplace learning, and workforce development.

    Purpose of the Position

    The Client Liaison Officer will facilitate and implement the merSETA Client Services Strategy by delivering high-quality client support, increasing access to workplace training opportunities, promoting skills development, and helping employers comply with SETA requirements.

    The role focuses on improving client satisfaction while supporting employers and training partners in achieving sustainable workforce development.

    Key Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be expected to:

    • Guide and support companies in developing, implementing, and monitoring mandatory grants.
    • Assist employers to comply with merSETA quality assurance requirements and workplace approval policies.

    • Promote participation in training partnerships and learning interventions.
    • Monitor workplace learning programmes and provide guidance where improvements are required.
    • Support employers participating in merSETA initiatives and development projects.

    • Assist with capacity-building initiatives.
    • Prepare accurate and timely reports.
    • Promote sustainable community-based training programmes, including initiatives in rural and farming communities.

    • Support employers in claiming mandatory grants.
    • Identify organisations suitable for discretionary grant funding.
    • Recommend discretionary grant allocations according to prescribed criteria.
    • Assist with the implementation of Memoranda of Agreement (MoAs).
    • Build strong relationships with employers and industry stakeholders.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Applicants must possess:

    • A three-year Diploma (NQF Level 6) or equivalent qualification in one of the following:
      • Engineering Studies
      • Business Studies
      • Administration
      • Project Management
      • Human Resources
      • Development and Training
      • Occupationally Directed Education, Training and Development Practices (ODETD)
      • Related field

    Applicants must also have:

    • At least 4 years’ experience in a client liaison environment.
    • Technical competence within the manufacturing or engineering sector.

    Advantageous Qualifications

    Preference may be given to candidates with:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in a relevant discipline.
    • Qualified Artisan status.
    • Five years’ experience in client liaison and technical environments.
    • Direct workplace training experience.

    Required Knowledge and Skills

    Successful applicants should demonstrate:

    • Strong collaboration skills.
    • Project management ability.
    • Excellent relationship management.
    • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.

    • High attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Sound knowledge of the manufacturing and engineering industry.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of Skills Development legislation and related policies.
    • Valid driver’s licence.
    • Own legally registered vehicle in good working condition.
