Overview
New Economy Organisers Network (NEON) is seeking a Head of Digital Communications to lead its new Digital Programme, aiming to strengthen the communications skills and capabilities of progressive movements across the UK. This strategic and hands-on role involves developing digital strategies, creating content, delivering training, and empowering movement allies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy development and delivery of the Digital Communications Programme.
- Contribute to the overall Communications Hub strategy and narrative development.
- Support Co-Directors with overarching strategic direction and lead fundraising/evaluation.
- Establish and manage a reactive social media unit and work with consultants to create digital content.
- Develop personal brands, tone, and positioning for spokespeople and partners.
- Identify and act on digital trends and news opportunities.
- Develop a support package for online influencers and provide digital communications support to spokespeople and allied organisations.
- Collaborate with a digital crisis communications support service and support spokespeople in countering misinformation.
- Provide tailored support for individuals facing online abuse or hate.
- Project manage and deliver digital media training programmes, including follow-up training and one-day digital strategy training.
- Ensure all training is inclusive, accessible, and empowering.
- Provide regular insights on digital trends and media landscape shifts.
- Oversee and manage the Spokesperson Network budget.
- Play an active role in the wider NEON team.
Requirements
- Proven track record of developing innovative projects that advance a progressive agenda.
- Strong understanding of digital media, online trends, and the changing media landscape.
- Recent experience creating viral, persuasive digital content.
- Experience delivering effective and inclusive training to diverse groups.
- Experience developing personal brand, tone, and positioning online.
- Strong audience insight skills, including message adaptation and digital testing methods.
- Excellent relationship-building and teamworking abilities.
- Experience building networks and working constructively across differences.
