Overview
The Nutrition Officer will implement and monitor nutrition interventions, particularly the Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) programs under the supervision of the Nutrition Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of nutrition activities at project sites, including Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) and IYCF initiatives.
- Ensure interventions comply with Nigeria Federal Ministry of Health guidelines and international nutrition standards.
- Identify eligible beneficiaries and support selection of community focal persons.
- Organize community groups for effective dissemination of nutrition education.
- Conduct community screenings and support nutritional service referrals.
- Facilitate training for staff and community stakeholders to enhance program delivery.
- Promote collaboration with local leaders and health systems.
- Collect and report data, maintain documentation, and enhance accountability.
- Support logistics, procurement, and maintain safety of nutrition-related equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Nursing or related medical field.
- At least one year of experience in CMAM and IYCF programming.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition surveillance and supplementary feeding programs.
- Fluency in English and Hausa; knowledge of Fulfulde is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
