The Southern African Faith Communities’ Environment Institute (SAFCEI) is inviting applications from experienced professionals for the position of Project Coordinator – Climate & Energy Justice Programme (ECO-JET).
This opportunity is suited to individuals who are passionate about environmental justice, climate action, community development, and South Africa’s Just Energy Transition (JET).
Based in Cape Town with regular travel to Mpumalanga and Limpopo, the successful candidate will support the Project Manager in coordinating the implementation of the ECO-JET project while strengthening community participation in climate and energy decision-making.
The role places particular emphasis on empowering women and young people through collaboration with community-based and faith-based organisations.
The Southern African Faith Communities’ Environment Institute (SAFCEI) is a leading multi-faith environmental justice organisation working across Southern Africa.
The organisation equips faith leaders, green champions, and local communities with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to promote sustainable living, environmental protection, and climate justice.
Through advocacy, education, partnerships, and community engagement, SAFCEI supports initiatives that contribute to a fair and inclusive transition to clean energy.
The Project Coordinator will play a central role in ensuring the successful implementation of the ECO-JET programme and other assigned projects.
The position combines project management, stakeholder coordination, climate policy monitoring, advocacy support, community engagement, and reporting.
Working closely with partners, community organisations, and stakeholders, the coordinator will ensure activities remain on schedule while supporting meaningful public participation in climate and energy policy discussions.
