FAO Opens Applications for Field Technical Coordinator Positions in Sri Lanka
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has announced applications for two Field Technical Coordinator positions under a project aimed at restoring inland fisheries and supporting communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka.
The positions are being offered through FAO’s Representation in Sri Lanka under the project “Strengthening Resilience of Inland Fisheries Affected by the Cyclone” (OSRO/SRL/090/JPN). Successful candidates will work directly with local fisheries authorities and communities to help rebuild livelihoods, strengthen aquaculture systems, and improve the resilience of inland fisheries.

FAO is recruiting two non-staff national project personnel to support the implementation of fisheries and aquaculture activities across project locations in Trincomalee and Ampara districts.
The nine-month assignments will play a key role in implementing technical field activities designed to restore fish production and improve income opportunities for inland fishing communities impacted by Cyclone Ditwah.
The project is being implemented in collaboration with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Fisheries and the National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA).
The FAO-led initiative focuses on rebuilding fisheries infrastructure and strengthening sustainable aquaculture systems in the districts of Ampara, Batticaloa, and Trincomalee.

The Field Technical Coordinators will serve as the link between FAO, government agencies, and local fishing communities to ensure these activities are successfully delivered.

The coordinators will also work closely with Aquaculture Extension Officers (AEOs), Development Assistant Aquaculture Officers (DAEOs), and district fisheries officials to ensure project targets are achieved on schedule.
