This full-time remote opportunity is designed for experienced professionals who are passionate about reproductive justice, feminist leadership, and building strong social movements across the continent.

    About the MAMA Network

The Mobilizing Activists around the Medical Abortion Network is a regional network that brings together grassroots activists, counselors, researchers, and feminist organisations working to improve access to safe medical abortion.

The network currently includes 74 member organisations across 24 African countries, with plans to expand its reach and deepen its impact in the coming years.

MAMA focuses on sharing evidence-based, stigma-free information about self-managed abortion and broader sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Its work prioritises reaching women directly at the community level, particularly in regions where abortion access is limited by legal restrictions, stigma, or inadequate healthcare systems.

Key strategies used by the network include:

    • Community outreach programmes that provide trusted information
    • Confidential hotlines offering guidance on safe medical abortion
    • Collaboration with pharmacies and healthcare providers
    • Advocacy for the decriminalisation of abortion
    • Partnerships with feminist organisations globally to expand access to abortion medication

The network is coordinated by a team responsible for planning, implementing, and strengthening the movement’s strategies and internal systems.
