Key Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives to produce an industry-leading vector database offering, focusing on speed and relevance in search.
• Contribute full-time to Elasticsearch by building new search features and fixing bugs while improving code understandability.
• Work collaboratively with a globally distributed team of engineers on vector search capabilities.
• Become an expert in Elasticsearch's vector similarity implementation for search relevance.
• Engage with community members on issues and pull requests, triaging as needed.
• Write idiomatic modern Java.

Requirements

• Experience in implementing techniques in vector similarity on a large-scale search platform.
• Professional experience with vector similarity and vector databases, including relevant algorithms.
• Strong core Java skills and familiarity with data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Ability to work autonomously, guiding projects from design to completion.
• Collaboration experience, particularly in remote environments.
• Familiarity with various data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch and PostgreSQL.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven track record of using AI to enhance development and optimize code.
