    • Climate-smart agriculture.

    Position Overview

    The Project Officer – Agribusiness & Market Systems will support the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of agribusiness and market development activities under UCSATP.

    The successful candidate will play a key role in helping smallholder farmers and producer groups improve market-oriented production, aggregation, value addition, and market access.

    The position requires strong expertise in agribusiness development, value chain strengthening, enterprise development, and market systems approaches.

    Key Responsibilities

    The selected candidate will contribute to several critical project areas, including:

    Agribusiness and Market Systems Development

    • Support implementation of agribusiness interventions.
    • Facilitate value addition and aggregation activities.
    • Strengthen farmer market linkages.
    • Promote climate-resilient market systems.
    • Support collective marketing initiatives.

    Farmer Capacity Building

    • Train farmers and producer organizations in business planning.
    • Support post-harvest handling practices.
    • Promote enterprise development strategies.
    • Strengthen farmer group management and governance.
    • Enhance value chain competitiveness.

    Market Access and Partnerships

    • Facilitate partnerships with buyers and off-takers.
    • Support linkages with financial institutions.
    • Promote access to Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs).
    • Strengthen relationships with Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs).
    • Connect producers to market opportunities.

    Monitoring and Reporting

    • Monitor market performance and challenges.
    • Track enterprise and sales data.
    • Support project evaluation activities.
    • Prepare implementation reports.
    • Document promising practices and success stories.

    The role also includes collaborating with local partners and community facilitators to ensure effective field implementation and adherence to project quality standards.

    Required Qualifications

    Candidates must possess:

    • A Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics.
    • At least five years of progressive experience in:
      • Agribusiness development.
      • Market systems strengthening.
      • Value chain development.
      • Agricultural enterprise promotion.

    Experience working in refugee settlements or rural development contexts will be highly advantageous.

    Preferred Experience

    CRS is seeking candidates with demonstrated experience in:

    • Project monitoring and evaluation.
    • Data collection and analysis.
    • Community engagement approaches.
    • Participatory planning processes.
    • Capacity strengthening initiatives.
    • Agricultural market systems programming.
