    Overview

    Puro.earth is seeking an experienced Scientific Advisor to join their team and contribute to scaling impactful carbon removal solutions. This role involves developing and maintaining methodologies aligned with the Puro Standard, synthesizing scientific research, managing collaborative scientific workflows, and supporting operational certification processes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and manage large technical documents, including methodologies and Standard Documents.
    • Stay updated on scientific developments relevant to carbon removal and synthesize findings from literature.
    • Manage methodology working groups and facilitate collaboration among scientists and project developers.
    • Provide scientific assessments of carbon removal projects to support certification and operational procedures.
    • Create training materials and scientific content for internal and external use.
    • Communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
    • Participate in scientific working groups, conferences, and presentations.
    • Maintain and organize a library of scientific publications and data.
    • Contribute to operationalizing scientific methodologies in practice.

    Requirements

    • Ph.D. in natural sciences (e.g., chemistry, physics, biology, Earth science, environmental science).
    • 3-5 years of scientific work experience with demonstrated in-field application.
    • Excellent scientific writing skills in English.
    • Strong communication and project management skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
    • Experience managing large scientific reference libraries.
    • Scientific problem-solving with quantitative or engineering focus.
    • Based in Europe or in a suitable time zone with availability for occasional travel and flexible meeting times.
    • Experience with engineered carbon removal technologies or voluntary carbon markets.
    • Experience assessing scientific projects or developing requirements.
    • Knowledge of operational aspects such as sustainability and carbon accounting.
    • Skills in scientific visualization and programming (e.g., Python, LaTeX).
    • Experience working in startups or innovative environments.
    • Ability to work in or near Helsinki for hybrid on-site work preferred.
