    This full-time opportunity is ideal for individuals with experience in metering, instrumentation, and field maintenance who are looking to build their careers with one of South Africa’s leading bulk water utilities.

    The successful candidate will assist with flow and pressure data logging, in-situ testing, meter installations, upgrades, and project support for both internal and external stakeholders.

    About the Role

    The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting flow and pressure data logging, in-situ meter verification, and the installation and upgrading of water meters across approximately 1,680 Rand Water consumer and non-consumer meters.

    The position also involves supporting various operational projects while ensuring that all work complies with Rand Water’s quality, safety, and operational standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Workshop Assistant Meters will be expected to:

    • Conduct planned maintenance on flow meters.
    • Install and remove ultrasonic clamp-on equipment for in-situ verification.
    • Install and remove flow and pressure data logging equipment.

    • Perform meter verification at various sites within Rand Water’s supply area.
    • Conduct calibration testing.
    • Complete administrative and operational documentation.

    • Report plant defects that may affect health and safety.
    • Support internal and external project work.
    • Ensure all assigned work is completed efficiently and safely.

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants should possess the following:

    • Grade 12 or N3 qualification.
    • Valid driver’s licence.
    • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar working environment.

    Desired Experience

    Preference may be given to candidates with experience in:

    • Conducting in-situ meter verification tests.
    • Electronic meter verification.
    • Installation of flow and pressure data loggers.

    Required Knowledge

    Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of:

    • Basic instrumentation and metering.
    • Calibration testing.
    • Dead Weight testing.
    • Relevant legislation and regulations governing metering operations.
