The Max Foundation, a leading global health nonprofit dedicated to advancing health equity, is currently recruiting for the position of Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Manager. This role is open to candidates based in Nairobi (Kenya), Pretoria (South Africa), or remote locations within Africa.
This is a contractor role reporting to the Senior Director of Monitoring & Evaluation. The organization offers competitive compensation based on experience, although relocation support is not provided.
The Monitoring & Evaluation Manager will play a critical role in strengthening The Max Foundation’s impact measurement and evidence-generation efforts across its global health programs. The successful candidate will lead technical project management for M&E initiatives, ensuring projects are well-coordinated, timely, and aligned with organizational priorities.
Key responsibilities include managing project plans, timelines, budgets, and deliverables, while coordinating cross-functional collaboration with internal teams, consultants, vendors, and partners. The role also involves contributing to proposal development, technical writing, and the synthesis of findings into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
The M&E Manager will support the design and implementation of evaluation frameworks, data collection systems, and reporting processes. They will oversee data analysis, develop visualizations such as dashboards and reports, and contribute to publications, grant proposals, and conference submissions. Additionally, the role includes conducting research, coordinating documentation and compliance processes, and translating technical findings into accessible formats for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in public health, global health, epidemiology, statistics, or a related field, with a Master’s degree considered an advantage. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, program evaluation, or global health research is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong project management skills and experience working with complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, while familiarity with tools such as SPSS, REDCap, or SurveyMonkey is desirable. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights. Experience in global health, access to medicines, or health systems strengthening in low- and middle-income countries is an added advantage.
