    Overview

    The Hub for Multilingual Education and Literacies (HuMEL), based at the University of the Witwatersrand, is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to support its growing portfolio of research activities. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about education, language, and research development.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the coordination and management of multiple research projects within the Hub, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
    • Assist in the development and preparation of research proposals, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
    • Maintain accurate records of research activities, including datasets, documentation, and project files.
    • Contribute to data-related tasks including data collection, capturing and organization, and basic data analysis.
    • Provide logistical and operational support for training sessions, workshops, and research facilitation activities.
    • Perform general administrative duties to ensure efficient functioning of research operations.

    Requirements

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Education.
    • Demonstrated interest or experience in research administration or academic project support.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • High attention to detail and accuracy in handling information.
    • Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • A valid driver’s licence.

    A background in language studies and/or project management is advantageous.
