The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), a leading independent think tank in defence and security, is recruiting a Research Fellow in Technology and National Security.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct high-quality qualitative and/or quantitative research on technology and national security
Produce policy-relevant publications in accessible formats
Communicate complex technical material in clear, non-specialist language
Identify and secure new research opportunities and funding streams
Manage research projects effectively from design to delivery
Engage directly with policymakers, defence institutions, and international organisations
Design and deliver research-related events, panels, and discussions

Requirements

Experience securing funding for research in technology and national security
Strong research skills (qualitative and/or quantitative)
Excellent written English with the ability to produce high-quality policy outputs
Ability to translate technical material into accessible language for policymakers
Postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Experience managing research projects and coordinating teams
Background in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Quantum technologies

Benefits

Salary: £40,000–£55,000 (based on experience)
25 days annual leave (increasing with service)
Employer pension contribution of 6%
