Overview
The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), a leading independent think tank in defence and security, is recruiting a Research Fellow in Technology and National Security.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality qualitative and/or quantitative research on technology and national security
- Produce policy-relevant publications in accessible formats
- Communicate complex technical material in clear, non-specialist language
- Identify and secure new research opportunities and funding streams
- Manage research projects effectively from design to delivery
- Engage directly with policymakers, defence institutions, and international organisations
- Design and deliver research-related events, panels, and discussions
Requirements
- Experience securing funding for research in technology and national security
- Strong research skills (qualitative and/or quantitative)
- Excellent written English with the ability to produce high-quality policy outputs
- Ability to translate technical material into accessible language for policymakers
- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience managing research projects and coordinating teams
- Background in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Quantum technologies
Benefits
- Salary: £40,000–£55,000 (based on experience)
- 25 days annual leave (increasing with service)
