    Overview

    International Medical Corps is seeking a Senior Officer, Country Programs to support the successful implementation of program activities within the country mission in Borno State, Nigeria. The role ensures project goals are achieved on schedule and in compliance with guidelines, donor requirements, and organizational policies.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Review and support the development of monitoring and evaluation systems for quality program implementation and reporting.
    • Provide technical guidance to program staff for effective implementation and reporting of programs, grants, and contracts.
    • Monitor project progress, identify issues, and recommend adjustments.
    • Contribute to program reports and coordinate grant-related documentation.
    • Coordinate weekly meetings with national program staff and maintain communication with the supervisor and country mission team.
    • Respond to donor inquiries regarding program activities when directed.
    • Support the development of new project proposals and identify potential funding opportunities.
    • Assist in securing donor meetings for the Country Director.
    • Support recruitment of program staff, strengthen capacities, and assist with staff development initiatives.
    • Mentor program implementation teams to ensure expected results are achieved.
    • Engage with national government institutions and relevant agencies when required.
    • Provide support to field programs and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Master’s Degree in Public Health, International Development, or a related field.
    • At least four years of experience in program design and evaluation.
    • At least one year of experience working in developing countries or resource-constrained environments.
    • Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
    • Familiarity with international humanitarian operations, coordination structures, and the mandates of donors, UN agencies, and NGOs.
    • Strong cross-cultural awareness and understanding of global health challenges.
    • Strong decision-making abilities, sound judgment, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Flexibility and ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate local staff.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint is an advantage.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with donors, partner organizations, and internal departments.
