Senior Software Engineer @Fivetran

Overview

Fivetran + dbt Labs is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their dbt Platform Services team. This role involves creating and maintaining stable, scalable services foundational to the dbt platform cloud product, while also redesigning external APIs to enhance user experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain stable, scalable foundational services for engineering teams.
• Collaborate with internal partners and product teams to design the API surface.
• Design and develop reliable and secure experiences for dbt Cloud admins and end users.
• Work iteratively with product management, security, and QA to provide a great user experience.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers on platform-focused security.

Requirements

• Strong fundamentals in object-oriented programming.
• Experience in designing and building API-driven applications using REST and/or gRPC.
• Ability to support and evolve APIs through multiple iterations.
• Passionate about design and code reviews.
• Autonomous with a systematic problem-solving approach.
• Strong communication skills with a sense of ownership.

Bonus Skills

• Experience with authentication protocols like SAML and OIDC.
• Interest in application-level product security.
• Experience with monitoring services like Datadog.
• Experience working on a distributed team.
