Overview

Brex is an intelligent finance platform that allows companies to manage spending smarter and move faster. The role of Senior Software Engineer on the Accounting Engineering team involves building platforms and products that convert Brex activity into accurate, usable accounting data.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain the core accounting platform, including reusable records, rules, mappings, and versioned APIs.
Own ERP connectivity end-to-end, developing reliable integrations with systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, and Oracle.
Implement customer-facing experiences for financial activity in our React/TypeScript dashboard.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex accounting concepts into user-friendly experiences.
Design distributed systems ensuring correctness, including features like idempotency and reconciliation.
Work on problems from user experience to data model architecture and scalability.
Integrate ML models into accounting workflows while preserving explainability.
Participate in on-call rotation and maintain operational standards for mission-critical systems.

Requirements

5+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend development.
2+ years building systems in regulated domains (e.g., fintech, healthcare).
Experience creating APIs, data models, and platform capabilities for various customer workflows.
Proficiency in languages such as Kotlin, Java, and TypeScript, with a focus on Kotlin and Micronaut.
Experience with databases like PostgreSQL and distributed systems.
Strong engineering standards in code quality, testing, and operational excellence.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
