Overview

The role involves working as a Senior Software Engineer on the Elasticsearch - Analytical Engine team within a globally-distributed, remote environment. This team is tasked with building new analytics capabilities in Elasticsearch and enhancing existing features.

Key Responsibilities

• Contributing to Elasticsearch by building data-intensive features and resolving bugs.
• Collaborating with a distributed team focused on analytics capabilities.
• Providing expertise in various areas of Elasticsearch and improving those areas.
• Interacting with community members on issues and pull requests.
• Writing idiomatic modern Java code, as Elasticsearch is predominantly written in Java.

Requirements

• Strong skills in core Java, including knowledge of data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Experience with software systems engineering.
• Desire to optimize and efficiently utilize data structures and algorithms.
• Ability to work autonomously on projects from initiation to completion.
• Experience with data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven experience using AI to enhance development and optimize code.
• Able to collaborate across functions and adapt to different projects as needed.
