Overview
The role involves working as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Webflow, a company focused on helping organizations build and optimize web experiences. This position is remote-first and primarily for candidates in the United States and certain regions of Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the long-term technical vision and architecture for backend systems.
- Architect and evolve high-throughput distributed systems and APIs.
- Lead foundational platform investments and data infrastructure.
- Partner with data scientists, ML engineers, and product engineers.
- Lead complex, multi-team technical initiatives from start to finish.
- Influence the engineering roadmap and technical strategy across teams.
- Raise the engineering bar through architecture reviews and best practices.
- Mentor and grow staff and senior engineers.
- Stay current with industry trends and proactively identify opportunities.
- Translate product vision into technical execution plans.
Requirements
- BS/BA degree or relevant experience.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience.
- Expertise in architecting backend and distributed systems.
- Strong technical foundation in multiple programming languages (Python, Java, Go).
- Experience in building and operating high-throughput, data-intensive systems.
- Demonstrated technical leadership across cross-team initiatives.
- Able to effectively partner with stakeholders to translate business needs.
- Strong judgment and clear communication skills.
