Principal Software Engineer (Application Networking) - Platform Infrastructure @Elastic

Overview

This role is for a Principal Software Engineer to join Platform Infrastructure - Application Networking at Elastic, focusing on the technical vision, architecture, and design of application networking solutions for the Elastic Cloud.

Key Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for major application networking initiatives, from proposal to general availability.
• Lead the development of Ingress, private connectivity, DNS, and security controls for Elastic Cloud.
• Manage multi-quarter, cross-organizational projects crucial to other engineering teams.
• Enhance operational quality and lead complex incident investigations.
• Mentor engineers and act as a subject matter expert within the organization.
• Advise product management on technical trade-offs and roadmap direction.
• Champion improvements in security, stability, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

• Experience in building software and setting technical direction for complex distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in application networking and cloud-native architecture.
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Proven ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
• Experience with high-availability SaaS platforms and incident response.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and teams.
• Excellent communication skills.
