Senior Staff Software Engineer @Fivetran

Overview

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies. We are looking for a brilliant and collaborative individual to join our Performance Engineering Team as a Staff Software Engineer, responsible for ensuring our product performance standards are met or exceeded.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and debug code to identify and fix performance issues.
• Analyze production workloads and system performance metrics to identify performance bottlenecks.
• Build proof of concepts to maximize product performance and efficiency.
• Maintain a platform focused on improving performance, resilience, and quality of products.
• Communicate and align strategy with engineering team members and recommend improvements.
• Engage with fellow engineers in design and code reviews.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in the software industry.
• Experience in architecting reliable distributed systems with an emphasis on high-volume data management.
• Expertise in building backend services and data systems.
• Strong knowledge in working with Java and databases.
• Knowledge of observability tools like New Relic, Splunk, or DataDog is a plus.
• Performance engineering background and cloud technologies experience is a plus.

Location

This is a Hybrid position based out of our Oakland office, requiring two days in the office each week.
