Sr. Software Engineer (AI) @Pendo

Overview

Pendo's Emerging Team is focused on building AI Products for their product experience platform, designing and shipping AI-native experiences that transform how software teams understand and serve users. This role is centered on deep technical capability and product judgment as a Senior Software Engineer (AI).

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build AI systems including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and LLM-powered features.
• Make principled decisions regarding model prompting, fine-tuning, and tool selection.
• Evaluate model outputs rigorously, defining evaluation frameworks and ensuring production readiness.
• Manage model deployment, monitoring, latency optimization, cost management, and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with product and design teams to address problems before coding.
• Stay updated on research and tooling related to AI technologies and frameworks.

Requirements

• Experience with LLM-powered systems, including retrieval-augmented generation.
• Technical depth in system design and architecture decisions.
• Ability to own technical quality across features and improve shared tooling.
• Strong command of model evaluation techniques and addressing overfitting issues.
• Knowledge of modern model architectures and their application.
• Experience with production AI deployments and optimization practices.
• Full-stack development skills to ship complete AI products.
• Exceptional communication skills to convey complex decisions to various stakeholders.

Location

This is a hybrid position requiring in-office presence 3 days per week in New York, NY.
