Overview

Grafana Labs is a remote-only company focused on building Grafana Cloud, a managed observability platform. They are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to work on Tempo, the open-source distributed tracing backend for Grafana.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical initiatives and drive the architecture of core Tempo components.
• Design APIs for human and agent consumption.
• Drive operational excellence and improve performance metrics.
• Collaborate with product management and other teams to deliver solutions that meet user needs.
• Mentor engineering team members and foster a culture of learning and improvement.
• Engage with the open-source community to contribute to Tempo.

Requirements

• Proven technical leadership with experience in complex project delivery.
• Experience with distributed data systems in a production environment.
• Strong software development skills, particularly in Go or similar languages.
