The company is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to join their team dedicated to building reliable and scalable backend infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Earning the trust of large-scale operator customers and meeting clear business objectives.
• Designing and developing backend services and distributed systems at scale.
• Driving continuous improvement of engineering practices and culture.
• Managing projects from ideation through to production.
• Ensuring operational health by participating in on-call rotations.
• Hiring and mentoring engineers to build the future of Grafana.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver complete solutions.
• Engaging with customers to translate requirements into engineering solutions.

Requirements

• Proven experience in writing production services and operating at scale.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, including replication and fault tolerance.
• Experience with gRPC/protobuf APIs and designing service contracts.
• Strong skills in databases such as PostgreSQL and query optimization.
• Comfortable with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry and Prometheus.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
