Overview

Grafana Labs is a fully remote company known for its observability platform, Grafana Cloud. The company is looking for a Staff-level Backend Engineer to join their team and help design and build core backend services for an AI-native data intelligence system.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and operate core backend services related to context ingestion, indexing, and retrieval.
• Help define and build the architecture for a multi-tenant service, focusing on various aspects like tenant isolation and usage tracking.
• Build APIs and service interfaces for AI agents and internal applications to retrieve context and confidence signals.
• Collaborate across product and infrastructure to balance fast experimentation with long-term reliability.
• Instrument services with monitoring tools and evaluate system performance.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and engineering practices for new product areas.
• Effectively communicate and collaborate within a dynamic environment.
• Take ownership of AI solutions, ensuring innovation aligns with user workflows.

Requirements

• Solid experience in building production-grade software systems.
• Familiarity with AI technologies and practical applications.
• Experience in iterative development and user-feedback integration.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and GenAI applications.
• Background in cloud-native environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Use of observability tools for performance diagnostics.
