Overview

The role is for a Staff Backend Engineer at Grafana Labs, a fully remote company known for its observability platform, Grafana Cloud. This position focuses on building a context layer management system to enhance data intelligence and drive innovation in observability tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and operate core backend services for context ingestion, indexing, and retrieval.
• Define architecture for a scalable, multi-tenant service including tenant isolation and service boundaries.
• Build APIs and service interfaces for AI agents and internal applications.
• Collaborate on practical tradeoffs between fast experimentation and long-term reliability.
• Instrument services with metrics and use observability tools for system improvement.
• Contribute to the technical direction including architecture and engineering practices.
• Effectively communicate in a collaborative environment.
• Take ownership of AI solutions ensuring they are scalable and maintainable.

Requirements

• Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and GenAI applications.
• Proven track record of delivering production-grade software.
• Exposure to cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience using observability tools for system troubleshooting.
• Nice to have: experience with agent frameworks and data analysis platforms.
