Instacart is transforming the grocery industry by making grocery shopping effortless for everyone. The company is seeking a Staff Experience Designer to lead work across multiple touchpoints in the online grocery experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and lead experiences across consumer-facing products to create personalized journeys that meet household needs.
- Lead end-to-end experience design briefs across surfaces, including agentic interfaces.
- Craft narratives and value propositions for features and experiences.
- Define and own experience frameworks that map key customer journeys.
- Shape content, hierarchy, and information architecture for user comprehension.
- Codify experiential principles to guide user experiences across flows.
- Utilize AI-assisted prototyping and concept development in design practices.
- Work with Research to uncover insights about customer shopping behavior.
- Mentor partners on experience-led thinking and cohesive design practices.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in designing consumer-facing digital products.
- Strong portfolio highlighting complex, multi-step journeys.
- Fluency in at least two design languages: content design, UX/product design, visual design, design strategy, or design research.
- Proven ability to partner with product and business leaders.
- Exceptional communication skills with strengths in strategic storytelling.
- Track record of navigating ambiguity and guiding teams toward alignment.
- Fluency in Google Slides and Figma; familiarity with design tools like Claude Code and ChatGPT.
Benefits
Instacart offers highly competitive compensation and benefits, including a base pay range of $198,000 — $209,000 CAD, a new hire equity grant, and annual refresh grants.
Location
This is a remote position available to candidates in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia only.
