Staff Product Manager - dbt v2 @Fivetran

Overview

The role is for a Staff Product Manager at Fivetran, focusing on the dbt v2 roadmap and its strategic growth. This position aims to enhance product functionality and drive product-led growth through innovation and collaboration with various teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and deliver the dbt v2 roadmap, shipping new functionalities like SQL comprehension, compute, governance, and SAO.
• Define requirements for Fusion features that integrate with the dbt platform to unlock enterprise value.
• Ensure the Fusion engineering team is aligned and executing on a predictable cadence.
• Contribute hands-on to the dbt Core / Fusion codebases, including code reviews and documentation.
• Collaborate with OSS strategy leads and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver a unified roadmap.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product management experience in technical domains such as developer tooling or data platforms.
• Strong grasp of system architectures, especially for local deployments.
• Understanding of how open source investments drive PLG growth.
• Ability to bridge technical delivery with business impact.
• Experience working with engineering teams to define and ship complex features.
• Strong communication skills with empathy for both open source contributors and enterprise users.

Nice to Have

• Experience with dbt or similar frameworks.
• Background in plugin architectures or platform ecosystems.
• Understanding of PLG motions and freemium-to-paid conversion strategies.
• Experience with SQL engines or query optimization.
• Prior engineering experience with modern development frameworks (e.g., React, Typescript, Python).
