Staff Software Engineer @Fivetran

Overview

Fivetran and dbt Labs are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the dbt Platform Services team. The role involves creating and maintaining stable, scalable services that form the foundation of the dbt platform cloud product and redesigning external APIs to enhance user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain full stack applications that scale with the growing customer base.
• Lead technical architecture discussions to ensure platform performance, maintainability, and security.
• Tackle ambiguous problems with strategic thinking, balancing technical constraints with user needs.
• Build services, APIs, and experiences that prioritize user delight, quality, and performance.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Operations, and Security teams.
• Define and drive best practices in testing, observability, and system reliability.
• Mentor engineers and foster technical growth across the company.
• Champion a culture of technical excellence and influence engineering direction.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a software engineer in SaaS platforms and applications at scale.
• Proven experience in designing and scaling full stack applications.
• Proficiency in backend languages like Python, Go, and frameworks such as Django.
• Strong understanding of API design, system architecture, and database management.
• Experience leading complex projects and driving cross-functional collaboration.
• Systematic problem-solving approach and strong communication skills.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform).
• Ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction.
