Staff Software Engineer @Fivetran

Overview

Fivetran is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Database Connector team, which focuses on building and operating core replication technology for enterprise customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and improve database connectors focusing on correctness, performance, scalability, and operability.
• Investigate complex replication and change data capture (CDC) issues in production systems.
• Analyze low-level database behavior, logs, and transaction flows to enhance reliability.
• Develop support for new database capabilities, especially for Oracle and enterprise platforms.
• Drive software design and technical roadmap decisions.
• Improve observability, testing, and operational excellence in connector systems.
• Collaborate with engineers to enhance architecture quality and reliability.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and hands-on development.

Requirements

• Significant hands-on experience in software engineering, backend, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Strong experience with Java and/or C/C++ in production systems.
• Deep understanding of database internals, transaction semantics, query behavior, and data consistency.
• Experience with data replication, CDC, ETL/ELT, migration, or connector systems.
• Ability to investigate low-level system behavior.
• Strong system design skills for reliable distributed systems.
• Leadership in technical direction and architecture influence.
• Excellent communication skills and mentoring record.

Location
