Overview
Fivetran is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Database Connector team, which focuses on building and operating core replication technology for enterprise customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and improve database connectors focusing on correctness, performance, scalability, and operability.
- Investigate complex replication and change data capture (CDC) issues in production systems.
- Analyze low-level database behavior, logs, and transaction flows to enhance reliability.
- Develop support for new database capabilities, especially for Oracle and enterprise platforms.
- Drive software design and technical roadmap decisions.
- Improve observability, testing, and operational excellence in connector systems.
- Collaborate with engineers to enhance architecture quality and reliability.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews and hands-on development.
Requirements
- Significant hands-on experience in software engineering, backend, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
- Strong experience with Java and/or C/C++ in production systems.
- Deep understanding of database internals, transaction semantics, query behavior, and data consistency.
- Experience with data replication, CDC, ETL/ELT, migration, or connector systems.
- Ability to investigate low-level system behavior.
- Strong system design skills for reliable distributed systems.
- Leadership in technical direction and architecture influence.
- Excellent communication skills and mentoring record.
