Overview
The role of Staff Software Engineer at Lyft involves designing, owning, and scaling the Global Support Platform to support Lyft's international growth. The Global Support & Partnerships team plays a critical role in providing exceptional customer care experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the technical vision and strategy for a rapidly evolving product area and make high-judgment calls on architecture and technology direction.
- Drive the adoption of AI and machine learning solutions to optimize customer support workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead a team of engineers, maintaining a high bar for technical excellence and shipping code.
- Translate high-level business goals into actionable engineering projects, owning the technical roadmap from conception to delivery.
- Drive responsible adoption of AI development tools across engineering teams and improve productivity while maintaining code quality.
- Establish best practices for deployment, alerting, and on-call health, taking ownership of platform stability.
- Drive alignment across product, design, and operations, proactively resolving bottlenecks.
- Mentor and support the engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of architecting and delivering large-scale backend systems.
- Experience setting technical direction for a product or platform area, including authoring architecture documentation.
- Deep expertise in designing and operating distributed systems, including microservices and high-throughput APIs.
- Proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C#.
- Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure) and container orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Ability to lead and influence a team of engineers effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
