Overview

Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Adaptive Telemetry team within the Databases department. This remote position focuses on developing solutions that optimize how telemetry data is managed, ensuring that only valuable data is stored.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy and roadmap with architectural vision.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of large, cross-functional projects.
• Own architecture, reliability, performance, and cost for critical systems.
• Define SLOs/SLIs and lead incident response initiatives.
• Champion observability, automation, and operational readiness.
• Align stakeholders and remove blockers for large initiatives.
• Mentor and grow engineering talent within the team.
• Represent engineering internally and externally.

Requirements

• Experience in delivering large distributed systems with a track record of technical leadership.
• Strong systems-design instincts and hands-on cloud experience.
• Experience with reliability, performance ownership, and capacity planning.
• Excellent coding and design skills; familiarity with Go and other languages such as Python, C, C++, or Rust.
• Comfort with AI-assisted development tools.
• Knowledge of messaging and telemetry systems.
• Ability to influence stakeholders in a remote environment.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
