Overview
Affirm is seeking a seasoned Staff Software Engineer to drive their Continuous Integration (CI) team. This role is crucial for ensuring reliable and efficient development pipelines to enable engineers to deliver high-quality software.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design, scalability, and reliability of CI systems across multiple services and platforms.
- Optimize build times, test coverage, and reporting to ensure fast feedback cycles for developers.
- Implement monitoring and incident response processes to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment workflows and address developer pain points.
- Lead initiatives to enhance CI/CD practices and drive a culture of collaboration and technical excellence.
- Mentor CI engineers and contribute to the vision for developer productivity infrastructure.
- Align CI systems with broader product and platform goals in partnership with engineering leadership.
Requirements
- Experience in CI, build systems, or developer productivity domains.
- Background in modern build systems (e.g., GitHub, Buildkite, Artifactory).
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Proficiency in programming languages (Python, Kotlin, Java, or similar).
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to balance vision with short-term impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience managing build systems for large monorepos.
- Active contributor to open source projects is a plus.
