Staff Software Engineer - Databases SRE | Germany | Remote @Grafana Labs

Overview

Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - SRE to support Grafana Cloud customers by enhancing the reliability of their cloud databases. This position is remote and open to candidates in the UK, Sweden, Spain, or Germany.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with product engineering squads to ensure production reliability for high-SLA customers.
• Design and implement automation to enhance reliability practices.
• Define and evolve per-tenant SLOs and reliability models.
• Reduce SLO burn to prevent repeat incidents.
• Lead customer-impacting incident responses and post-incident reviews.
• Participate in code reviews and influence feature design for scalability and operability.
• Build automation to eliminate toil.
• Improve alert quality and minimize noise in escalations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience; 4+ years in SRE/CRE/production engineering.
• Strong Kubernetes experience in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Helm, Terraform, Jsonnet).
• Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.
• Proven experience operating multi-tenant systems in production.
• Strong knowledge in designing and implementing SLOs.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Go, Python, or Java.
• Understanding of Linux internals and networking, cloud storage, and scaling.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
