Overview

Instacart is transforming the grocery industry by building new product experiences around meals, nutrition, and health. The Staff User Researcher will be essential in understanding how consumers change their food behaviors, driving research that supports product development through deep human insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the research roadmap for consumer innovation, collaborating with product, design, data science, and engineering teams.
• Conduct generative research to understand consumer perceptions of food, nutrition, and health.
• Apply behavioral science frameworks to inform research and product strategies.
• Oversee mixed-methods research, including qualitative studies and quantitative analysis.
• Translate research findings into actionable narratives for stakeholders.
• Maintain knowledge bases, personas, and journey maps for organizational use.
• Mentor junior researchers and enhance research culture and standards.
• Advocate for customer insights to influence product roadmap and strategy.

Requirements

• 8+ years in UX or consumer research with a focus on early-stage innovation.
• Background in behavioral psychology or behavioral economics.
• Expertise in qualitative research methodologies.
• Strong quantitative research skills, including survey design and data analysis.
• Ability to lead foundational research and shape product strategy.
• Exceptional storytelling skills for conveying insights.
• Experience collaborating with data science teams.
• Fluency in using AI tools for research.
• Advanced degree preferred; Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
