Instacart is transforming the grocery industry by reimagining how people relate to food at home. The Staff User Researcher will be part of a team focused on building innovative product experiences that help consumers make better food choices.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently own and drive the research roadmap for the consumer innovation workstream.
- Lead generative, foundational research to understand consumer thoughts on food, nutrition, and health.
- Apply behavioral science frameworks to frame research questions and generate insights.
- Execute and oversee rigorous mixed-methods research, including qualitative and quantitative approaches.
- Translate research into compelling narratives to inform product and design decisions.
- Maintain living knowledge bases, personas, and journey maps for organizational use.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to the standards of the research organization.
- Advocate for the customer across the organization to influence strategy and roadmap.
Requirements
- 8+ years conducting UX or consumer research, particularly in early-stage innovation or new product development.
- Background in behavioral psychology or behavioral economics.
- Expertise in qualitative methodologies and strong skills in quantitative methods.
- Proven ability to lead foundational research that shapes product strategy.
- Exceptional storytelling skills to convert human insights into actionable narratives.
- Experience working with data science teams and familiarity with AI tools.
- Advanced degree preferred; Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
