    Technical Sales Representative (TSR) – Agronomist (Multiple Locations, Nigeria)

    A Technical Sales Representative (Agronomist) is being recruited by Candel Company Limited to support its expanding agricultural solutions business across key states in Nigeria, including Akwa Ibom, Borno, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Plateau, and Zamfara. This is a full-time role reporting to the General or Regional Manager (or designated representative).

    The position is designed for a technically skilled and field-oriented professional who can bridge the gap between agricultural innovation and practical farm application. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving product adoption by working closely with distributors, dealers, and farmers to demonstrate the value of the company’s agricultural products and technologies.

    Role Overview

    The Technical Sales Representative will lead pre-sales engagements with distributors and key stakeholders, organizing and executing on-farm demonstrations of agricultural products. These demonstrations are essential in educating farmers on product effectiveness, proper usage, and best agronomic practices. The TSR will ensure that farmers not only understand the benefits of the products but are also able to apply them independently with minimal supervision.

    In addition to field demonstrations, the role involves working collaboratively with distributors, stockists, and dealers to ensure timely availability of products. This includes managing supply channels to guarantee that products are accessible to farmers at the right time, in the appropriate quantities, and at competitive prices.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct pre-sales consultations and organize on-farm product demonstrations
    • Educate farmers on product usage, benefits, and best agricultural practices
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, dealers, and stockists
    • Ensure efficient product distribution and availability across assigned regions
    • Monitor market trends, farmer needs, and competitor activities
    • Provide feedback to management to improve product positioning and strategy
    • Support sales growth by increasing product adoption and farmer engagement

    Requirements

    Applicants must possess a minimum of a Second Class Upper degree in Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, or Social Sciences. The ideal candidate should be adaptable and willing to live and travel across different parts of Nigeria, particularly rural and farming communities.

    Fluency in English is required, along with proficiency in at least one additional major Nigerian language, which will be considered an advantage. Candidates with a minimum of one year of relevant experience in a similar role, particularly within the agricultural or agrochemical sector, will be preferred.

    Skills and Competencies

    The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, practical agronomic knowledge, and the ability to engage effectively with rural farmers. Candidates must be self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of working independently in field-based environments. Problem-solving ability, adaptability, and a passion for agriculture and rural development are essential for success in this role.
