Overview
The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) World Service is seeking a Roving Emergency Coordinator (Part-Time Consultancy) to provide immediate technical and operational support to their global humanitarian efforts during crisis situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy rapidly to support country programs during large-scale emergencies or significant crises.
- Conduct rapid needs assessments and provide operational and technical guidance.
- Support the scaling-up of emergency interventions, including proposal development and coordination with partners.
- Provide remote technical support and deliver training on emergency preparedness, response strategies, and humanitarian standards.
- Assist in strengthening country-level humanitarian mechanisms, including Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans.
- Support the Global Humanitarian Coordinator in managing the LWF Emergency Roster and coordinating rapid responses.
- Represent LWF during deployments, liaising with UN agencies, INGOs, and other humanitarian actors.
Requirements
- University degree in a relevant field (e.g., emergency response, social sciences, development studies); postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in humanitarian emergency response, preferably in field settings.
- Proven ability to conduct capacity building and deliver training in emergency contexts.
- Experience in rapid assessments, proposal development, and implementing emergency projects is essential.
- Technical expertise in Education in Emergencies (EiE) or Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) is highly advantageous.
- Experience working with UN clusters, inter-agency coordination mechanisms, and NGO platforms is desirable.
- Ability to operate effectively in complex, insecure environments with adaptability, flexibility, and resilience.
- Advanced proficiency in English required.
- Fluency in French, Spanish, or Arabic is highly desirable.
- Skills in leadership, accountability, people management, communication, resourcefulness, analytical thinking, facilitation, negotiation, project management, and networking.
