Underwriting Senior Analyst @Brex

Overview

Brex is the intelligent finance platform that enables companies to spend smarter and move faster in more than 200 markets. The Underwriting Senior Analyst will ensure smooth and efficient underwriting processes for Brex's cards products, exercising judgment within established frameworks to resolve complex cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess the credit quality and repayment ability of business credit card customers.
• Review bank statements and financial statements to underwrite Brex customers.
• Handle intermediate-level underwriting escalations requiring deeper investigation into applicant financials.
• Review existing underwriting processes and recommend improvements aligned with organizational goals.
• Track and communicate key underwriting metrics to stakeholders clearly.
• Build and maintain relationships with partners across Risk, Sales, Engineering, and Product.
• Serve as a subject matter expert within underwriting, executing with precision.
• Contribute to team learning and success through mentorship and collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field.
• 1+ years of experience in underwriting, credit risk, or financial analysis.
• Passionate about credit and underwriting decisions on commercial exposures.
• Understanding of GAAP/IFRS standards and bank/financial statement analysis.
• Familiarity with quantitative credit risk models and related concepts.
• Proficiency with Google Sheets, Excel, and BI tools for data analysis.
• Strong analytical rigor and attention to detail.
• Experience working cross-functionally with strong communication skills.

Benefits

The expected salary range for this role is $65,600 - $82,000 USD. Additional forms of compensation may be included based on the candidate’s qualifications.

Location

This role is based in a hybrid environment requiring a minimum of three days in the Salt Lake City office per week.
